Flapper Frenzy is a 1920s-themed pinball tournament and celebration of Aries or April bdays.
Format: 2 or 2.5 hrs (depending on turnout) hours of “Flipper Frenzy” followed by a playoff for the top 8 players (# of finalists depends on turnout).
Time: Thursday April 16th, 2020; warm up at 7, play starts at 7:30.
Cost: $10 entry per person plus coin drop, 100% of entry paid out to players. Results will be submitted to IFPA for world ranking points. Expect to play more games than in a knockout or matchplay format.
Brief rundown on format:
Two players are drawn randomly to play on each available machine. The remaining players are placed in one central queue. When a game is completed the loser stays on the same machine, unless they have lost twice consecutively, in which case the winner stays on. The player leaving the machine moves to the back of the queue.
The player staying on the machine plays in the same position (P1/P2) as they played in the previous game. The player at the front of the queue moves up to play the player staying on. At the end of time window, no more games may start. Ties will be broken mathematically whenever possible by using # of wins, then # of losses, then W/L ratio. Top 8 (# depends on turnout) move on to multi-matchplay semi finals (two groups seeded 1/4/5/8 and 2/3/6/7). Top 2 from each group move to finals.
