Seattle Repeals Pinball Tax

The Seattle City Council repeals the
requirement for an amusement device license

Earlier this month the local City Council passed legistration getting rid of the license that forced businesses to pay for each device that required payment to play. This was an annual fee that included devices such as pool tables, jukeboxes, arcade games and (of course) pinball machines. The license was repealled as a way to help downtown businesses attract more foot traffic and customers, which still haven’t recovered from the 2020 lock down. KUOW has a nice article with more details: https://kuow.org/stories/seattle-strikes-down-amusement-fee-for-arcades-pinball-and-more-fun

NW Pinball Championships Pre-Tournaments Begin

The NW Pinball Championships are hosting a series of pre-tournaments where players can win entries to next month’s big event

On August 24th the Admiral Pub is hosting the first of 8 pre-tournaments leading up to the annual Northwest Pinball Championships on Sept 8th – 10th. Since this year’s Championships are (mostly) sold out, the pre-tourneys are one of the only ways to still get in if you haven’t already registered. There are a lot of details, rules and links on our event calendar!

Another way to earn entries into the Championships is by volunteering and there are still a few spots available. To sign up for shifts and assist with scorekeeping across various machine banks, check out the spreadsheet at the following link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11QbQNIcQkLyXvd82fod7ndfX9cSePf6j78luhfaV1o8/edit#gid=0
